Farmhouse Family Lounge

OMG! I am so excited to share this next space with you. A and J approached me last fall about helping with their basement renovation. When they talked me through what they envisioned for the space, I was over the moon to jump in. I have told them many times they set the bar pretty darn high for my future clients. They brought amazing ideas to the table and we were able to laugh our way through the project.

Here is the space before we started.

This family room doubled as a play area for their kiddos. It was a beautiful space, but just didn’t function for their family. There was an unfinished room they were able to convert to a separate play room. Amen mamas! These two love to entertain and wanted a family friendly adult area for catching a great movie, sampling J’s home brewed beer, or gathering around for a game night. We divided the space into three main areas; a media space, a reading nook in front of the fireplace, and the wet bar area.

In this post I plan to share the beautiful after shots. I will dive into the design plan for the space and links to the final products in another post.

Without further ado….Here is their beautiful after!

Media Area

Of course this custom media cabinet with its reclaimed wood back flanked by these built ins takes center stage in their media area. The open shelves provide the perfect spot for finds and family photos, while the bottom doors provide some hidden storage. While this cozy sectional loaded with soft pillows and throws invite you in for the perfect movie seating. the loads of texture create a warm inviting ambiance.

Fireplace Nook

This are is the perfect spot for a good book and a hot cup of coffee on a cold winter day. These beautiful swivel chairs serve double duty centered in front of the fireplace or they can swivel around to enjoy the movie. While this area rug defines the space and adds a splash of color and texture.

Bar Area

The inspiration for the entire space and color palate pulled from this custom granite slab. Can you say stunning! We mirrored the media cabinet with more barn wood wrapped around this island. There is so much function and beauty packed in this wet bar from the custom beer tap to the gorgeous copper sink.

The last little detail I will highlight in this space is this board and batten wall that ties their upstairs living space downstairs.

My favorite part of this after is hearing how much A and J have enjoyed it! It is now their favorite room in the house. They love to invite friends over. Several friends and family were shocked to find out most of the furnishings were budget friendly finds!

Heck to the yes! I love creating a beautiful space that functions on a budget. With littles in the house they don’t need to be afraid to live in their home.
