Fall has officially hit South Dakota. My car actually alerted me last week of “low temperatures.” So much for crisp fall days, we are jumping straight to bitter, cold. All of this to say the weather has got me in the fall decorating mood. We will be gathered around our Thanksgiving tables before we know it. I thought it would be fun to start of a fall Tablescape series.
To kick of the series I went with a traditional pallet full of warm fall hues. Believe it or not I was inspired by a blanket scarf from the dollar spot at target! My mother in law had actually inspired me during a Christmas dinner a few years back when she used one of her scarves in the centerpiece. Without further ado here is the inspiration board for a warm traditional fall Tablescape
Once I had direction I started rounding up items I already had, along with a few new items. All the links are at the bottom of this post. I love how it all came together!
I used these cute little chalk board easels to create little place holders! These could be transitioned through seasons or used on a buffet table.
I found these napkins from the magnolia line at Target. They could also be used win a fun floral for spring or summer.
The little gold and white pumpkins were from a “falling in Love” bridal shower I hosted a few years back. Originally they were bright orange and brown. I just used a little spray paint to calm their tones.
I chose to go use some faux eucalyptus I had on hand. It is a not a bright green for the transition to fall. Often the faux fall greenery screams fake. There were enough other elements in this table for fall to get away with it. Plus frankly I am just a little obsessed with eucalyptus at the moment.
Taking center stage is this adorable “Hello Fall” sign from the Target dollar spot. That section is always full of great season decor. Often the scale is small, but in a grouping or with larger items they are perfect!
I used the additional runner on the table to add some texture and dimension while breaking up the pattern of the scarf.
This black tray is one of my favorite finds of the summer from Kirkland’s. I love using it for tablescapes, because it can easily be removed during dinner to allow for family style serving……and keeping my centerpiece safe from the food flying off my toddlers tray 😬
The chargers were another Kirkland’s find in the last few weeks. Yet another staple item that can transition through the seasons. They just set the stage for each place setting.
If you noticed a theme so many of these elements can be transitioned through different seasons. We can treat tablescapes like we treat our wardrobe. Having a few key, neutral staples on hand is a great foundation.
